Abstract: The Education Commission (1964-66) emphasized the role of education as a powerful instrument of social, economic and political change. The Commission concluded that one of the means of achieving educational transformation leading to national development was by linking education to productivity, and this link could be forged by introducing Work Experience (WE) as an integral part of general education. Work Experience aimed at giving the future citizens a keen sense of personal worth, dignity and efficiency and at strengthening in them the desire for self-improvement and social service.
