Abstract: Training of KPRs in teaching of English at primary and upper primary level for the state of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana was organized from 15-19 February 2010 at RIE Ajmer. The programme was attended by twenty-eight (28) KRPs from SCERTs /DIETs/Schools of the said states. During the 5-day training programme the topics which were thoroughly discussed and deliberated in a participatory mode include Constructivist approach to ELT, Fun with Grammar, Teaching Poetry, Pronunciation (Phonetic symbols, Stress and Intonation) Listening skill, Oral skill, Writing skill, Assessment in English language and Teaching of English at primary level. The resource persons who facilitated the academic discussions and interactions with the participants during the programme were Prof. A.K. Mishra, Head, DLSSAPE, NERIE, Shillong, Dr. Sheela Upadhyay, former Prof. & Head, Govt. College Ajmer, Dr. S.K. Pranami, Bteader in English (Retd.), RIE, Ajmer Dr. Priyamvada Agarwal, Lecturer in English (Adhoc), RIE Ajmer, Shri Ayushman Goswami, Lecture in Education, RIE Ajmer and Dr. Saryug Yadav, Programme Coordinator. The programme was highly interactive and activity-based. The participants found the training quite useful in strengthening their professional skills as key resource persons.
