Training Programme on Teaching of Science and Technology for Teacher Educators at Secondary Level for the States of Orissa and Jharkhand

Abstract

In any system of education teacher educators are responsible for the preparation of quality teachers. Therefore, they need to upgrade their training repertoire periodically. Methodology of teaching science and technology is acquiring new dimensions in view of curriculum renewal and expanding content domain, which in turn result in fresh inputs to teacher training strategies. In view of this the educational authorities of the states of Orissa and Jharkhand requested NCERT to organize a training programme in teaching of science and technology at secondary level for teacher educators of the respective states. Accordingly, this program has been taken up at the Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar. The training programme is being organized from 7th to 11th November, 2005 in a combined manner for teacher educators from Orissa and Jharkhand. Twenty participants from each state have been invited to the programme. The participants are expected to act as resource persons’ train other teacher educators and teacher’s n their respective states. Resource persons for this programme are drawn from the different departments of the host institution
