Abstract: Views on learning Science provide the directions for the ways of teaching science. To make teaching-learning process effective so as to impart meaningful learning involves basic questions like what science is to be learnt, why is it to be learnt and how is it learnt? There have been different views at different times to these questions. One thing is however certain. Learning Science is unquestionable in view of its impact on society. Due to this reason study of Science has been included as a compulsory subject up to secondary level. ‘Science for all’ is also a programme in this direction. It is expected that learning about Science concepts and processes lead to inculcation of rational outlook, values and attitudes. It prepares the learners to study the interaction between physical, biological and social factors of the environment. Also tide learners develop scientific attitude as a result of which they live more effectively as a citizen and are not guided by small considerations based on caste, sex and religion.
