Abstract: Population explosion is a worldwide phenomenon. However, the magnitude of the problem and the urgency to gauge its seriousness are perhaps nowhere so pressing as they are in Asia which alone accounts for more than half the world’s population. The UNESCO Regional Office for Education in Asia and Oceania Bangkok, being aware of the problem took certain steps to help member states in the South East Asian region to tackle this problem on the educational plane. After sponsoring a couple of regional seminars on Population Education in Bangkok, it developed a Source Book of Population Education in Asia for the benefit and guidance of the member states. As a follow up measure it made grants to member countries to develop similar national sourcebooks on population education. It also sponsored the project of developing national bibliographies in population education and compiled these national volumes for their use by all the member states of the UNESCO. It sponsored country case studies of coordination between Population and Education Policies in various member countries of the region. It has also assisted member countries to set up and financed when requested the national population education projects. Through its mobile team of population education, it has been assisting and coordinating these projects.
