Iron (III)-Catalyzed Efficient One-Potsynthesis of Functionalized Dihydrobenzo[4,5-D]Imidazo[1,2-A]Pyrimidines

Abstract

A concise and efficient Iron(III)-catalyzed one-pot domino synthesis of functionalized dihydrobenzo[4,5-d]imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines has developed by reaction of 2-aminobenzimidazole with substituted aromatic aldehyde and pyruvic acid in ethanol. The presentmethodology provides a convenient, atom-economical and eco-friendly approach for the synthesis of biologically important imidazopyrimidinesfrom easily available substrates under mild reaction conditions.
