| Abstract: | Education has played a vital role in human resource development and has been used as a tool to reduce disparities and inequality in the society. Our National concerns and issues pertaining to environment, peace oriented values and sensitivity towards gender parity and towards SC and ST, and minorities must inform all subjects and school experiences. Minorities are an integral part of our Indian society for the all round development of the society. It is important that various religions, cultural and linguistic groups should not only co-exist peacefully in the society but also be part of the all decision-making processes. There is a need to plan and make appropriate interventions for qualitative improvement in education in general and science education in specific in minority run institutions. The leadership in minority run institutions may play a crucial role in shaping the system. No system of education can rise above the quality of its teachers. The quality of teachers greatly depends on the means deployed for selection, procedures used for training and the strategies adopted for ensuring accountability (NCF 2005). The selection of knowledge proposed to be included in each subject area requires careful examination in terms of socio-economic and cultural conditions and goals. The greatest national challenge for education is to strengthen our participatory democracy and1 the value enshrined in the constitution. Meeting this challenge implies that we make quality as the central theme. |
