Abstract: Physics is a basic discipline in the category of natural sciences which also includes other disciplines like chemistry and biology. The word physics comes from a Greek word meaning natures Its Sanskrit equivalent is Bhautiki that is used to refer to the study of the physical world. Physics can broadly be described as a study of the basic laws of nature and their manifestation in different natural phenomena. Teaching learning of physics should engage the learners in acquiring methods and processes that will nurture their curiosity and creativity particularly in relation to the environment. It should be placed in the wider context of learners’ environment to equip them with the requisite knowledge and skills to enter the world of experience and of work. Teaching learning of physics should be facilitate in such a way that it help to develop an interest in the learners to: study the physics and inculcate in the learners the abilities, useful concepts of physics in real-life situations for making physics relevant, meaningful and joyful. Also learning physics instead of promoting memorization should increase the spirit of enquiry, creativity, objectivity and aesthetic sensibility for making the learners good citizens (NCF2005).
